Sponsor a RRNW Kitty

Thank you for coming to see the kitties here at Ragdoll Rescue in need of sponsorship! Please feel free to request more photos and more information on any of the kitties listed below.

Sponsoring a needy cat that cannot be adopted out, can be a rewarding thing to do. You will know that you are directly helping those cats that no one wants for one reason or another. These are the forgotten ones, the cats that many shelters would euthanize. Or in the case of a no-kill shelter or an adoption based rescue, probably would be turned away because they are not a quick turnover. Sad to say, but many rescues can't help the unadoptables. To their credit; however, it is understandable that those of us who take the unwanted, end up with many who will need caring for; for many years in some cases. This can cost more in vetting than the regular healthy adoptable would. For every cat that holds a space for years, means that many less adoptable cats can come in, so it's a very hard decision to make.

Being involved in rescue is not for volume or to provide pets for people, but rather to help the cats in need and finding them great homes or providing them with sanctuary.
I soon found out what a need there was for places for these cats to go. Other shelters would not take them and how much it cost to provide them with lifelong care if needed! So I thought maybe some kind hearted people who could not help by adopting or fostering would be willing to sponsor some of these unwanted cats.

We are grateful for any gift no matter how small, it all adds up. For those angels out there who have committed to sponsoring one or more kitties, this page is dedicated in your generous honor!

A special thank you.

The following kittes below need sponsors! Choose one and email for more information! Thank you so much.

Dusty

***Good News***
Dusty has a sponsorship from Maryann! Visit our thank you page honoring our sponsors.
Dusty (Est. age 12) Dusty came to us from a Humane Society in Southern Oregon. He was picked up as a stray Tom. They neutered him and he picked up a kitty cold there and stopped eating and had a hard time keeping down what he did eat. He was very depressed and a few pounds underweight. Once we got him eating again by hand feeding him canned food, then feeding him some high quality low allergen food he put some weight back on. He has a weepy eye and mild neurological issues as well as flea allergy but other than that all he wants is a lap and nap!

Julia

***Good News***
Julia has a sponsor!! Visit our thank you page honoring our sponsors.
(Est. age 11) Julia's story is one of the saddest ones we have had here at RRNW she came to us on deaths door. She had wasted away from 8 pounds to under 4, mourning her kittens the shelter aborted. She just stopped eating. We got her healthy and happy again, only to adopt her out for 30 days, she was returned at half her normal weight again! We feel she just needs to stay here where she is happy and back up to an ideal wight of 7 pounds. We think that at her advanced age that another change of home would not be wise.

Macy

Macy is from WY she came with 3 babies nursing all the way, her kennel sat up front with my husband who drove the long way alone from OR to the boarder of WY and Nebraska! I can thank her for keeping him awake on the long trip he said she would reach out and touch his arm every so often and mewed sometimes too. She is such a sweet girl she is probably the healthiest of all the WY cats! The only reason she has not gotten one inquiry is that she is black and shy. And all her babies of course had dozens of applications and went on to wonderful homes.

Rei

***Good News***
Rei now has a sponsor!! Visit our thank you page honoring our sponsors.
(Est. age 11) Rei came to us from a local shelter with her senior family member Julia. They had been taken from a house that had too many cats that were not altered and were allowed to keep breeding. Due to those over crowded conditions they both have chronic upper respiratory issues and Rei was never socialized so she is extremely shy. It has taken her almost 3 years to except us. We feel she dosen't need another change at her age.

Silky

Silky came to us from Spokane, like Sky her only problem is that she is a tubby black girl! Black cats are the most euthanized in shelters due to people not wanting black cats! She came to us at under a year old and is still with us 3 years later with only one inquiry. She is up for adoption as well as sponsorship since it looks like she may be with us forever.

Sky

****Good News****
Sky has a sponsorship from Maryann! Visit our thank you page honoring our sponsors.
(age 4) Sky came to us from Spokane, a high kill shelter. He was such a sick young boy of only 6 months old. He had caught the Calici virus while their. This is a bad upper respiratory infection that can cause ulcerations in the mouth and throat. Cats will not eat or drink if they have this much pain in the mouth and with the added problem of a stuffy and running nose they can't smell the food; this adds up to major problems keeping a cat alive if they won't eat or drink! He was sick for almost a month. It is a wonder he didn't hate me for having to force food and water into his sore mouth! He did get better, but he is sensitive to changes and when upset he pees on things he shouldn't and can have a recurrence of the Calici when under stress.

Spooks

Spooks was a stray kitten brought to us 4 years ago. He ended up with the worst case of Stomatitis that my vet had ever seen! By the time he was a year old his breath was so bad you couldn't be in the same room with the poor guy! He had the teeth of a 20 year old cat! He went through a year on steroids to keep the inflamed gums less painful, several bouts with infections of the mouth and ears and two surgeries to have all his teeth removed! Even though it did take around 30 day's for his mouth to heal, once his teeth were out, he has not had a sick day since! His teeth never kept him from eating even with the pain his top weight was 22 pounds. After his surgery he dropped down to a very thin 12 pounds; then once his mouth was healed he went right back up to his present 21! He eats dry food with no problem obviously! He is, however, a sprayer and a black cat. Although he is up for adoption we could use a sponsor for him since we have never had anyone inquire about him :(

Wren

****Good News**** Wren has a sponsorship from Bill and Sandy! Visit our thank you page honoring our sponsors.
Wren came from a Wyoming home that had 45-50 cats that were being bred for sale. Most were Persian and Himalayan mixes. There was so much inbreeding that many of the 15 we rescued had chronic health issues. Wren is a Himalayan mix, she also has the chronic upper respiratory issues so often found in cats that have come from crowded homes with untreated upper respiratory virus's! She can't smell very well or breath easily making it hard for her to groom. She has a weepy eye and snorts like a little piggy when she attempts to clean herself, and snores loudly while asleep. Her grooming issues are what really makes her not that adoptable. She sometimes leaves us presents outside the litter box or stuck to her that she can't clean herself, and her coat must be shaved to remain mat free.
